When you have a dog with special needs, you may find it challenging to leave him or her alone with a sitter, even if it’s a close friend or family member. You know that you have to take extra care of special needs dogs. This may make going on vacation or spending long periods away from your dog seemingly impossible, but it is not. Boarding your dog may seem like it’s not even an option, but it is.
All Star Pet Resort loves to accommodate dogs with special needs, and their stay can be just as comfortable and enjoyable as any other dog. Here’s what you can do to make your favorite pup’s stay the best it can be.
How To Set Your Special Needs Dog Up For Boarding Success
Whether your dog has a chronic illness or has just gone through an operation, there are medications that need to be administered on a regular basis. All Star Pet Resort is happy to administer medications for your special needs dog as much as you need. We do not do injections, though.
Before boarding, please pack enough medication for his or her stay in its original bottle, as well as dosing information, so that we can properly administer the medication to them. In addition, please provide treats to help administer the medication to make the process a bit smoother.
Special Dietary Requirements
If your dog has special dietary requirements, they are not alone. Many pets that come to All Star have special dietary needs, whether it is a specific food or specific amount that needs to be given at certain times. All Star is happy to accommodate any special dietary requirements. If your dog needs a specific food, simply bring their food, label it with their name on it, and provide instructions.
All Star understands that many pets have fears and anxieties, and behavioral problems do exist. At check-in, please provide any information on fears and anxieties, as well as any aggressions they may be prone to display. Staff members are compassionate, loving, and trained to handle dogs with behavioral issues.
Senior dogs have special requirements that All Star is happy to help with. Whether your senior dog has arthritis and needs extra exercise or needs to chew on a bone to satiate hunger due to a thyroid problem, you and your dog can feel comfortable knowing that his or her needs will be met. All you need to do is inform the staff of any special care that your senior buddy needs.
All Star understands that disabled dogs need extra love and attention and need to be monitored more frequently than other dogs. Whether your dog is blind, deaf, is without a limb, or paralyzed in some way, their dog boarding experience will be tailored to fit their needs, and they will receive additional attention by staff members during their stay.
